Dr. Pasek is a practitioner, educator, writer and consultant. She grew up in Colorado and graduated from Colorado State University, before moving to California. The relationship between pets and their people is what initially drew her to veterinary medicine, and this is what fuels her excitement about practice today. Incorporating this focus, she has been an active practitioner in the community while volunteering her time on numerous committees and boards. In 2009, she continued her pursuit of celebrating the “Relationship” by receiving a Credential in Veterinary Family Practice from the University of California at Davis.

She has been an active educator since 1999 when she joined the Los Angeles Pierce College RVT School as adjunct faculty. She has held 3 additional teaching positions in California at Moorpark College, Professional Veterinary Assistant School, and the University of Davis Community Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital.   She is an international speaker, speaking about Hospice and Palliative Care, the Human Animal Bond, and Compassion Fatigue.  In her free time, you may find her teaching around the world with K9 Medic, an education company which provides K9 handlers, medics, tactical medics, and other support members with the medical skills needed to prevent and treat injuries and illnesses in working dogs.

Dr. Pasek has authored many articles as well as a Pet Loss Support Book entitled Honoring the Journey: A Guided Path Through Pet Loss © 2008. This 150-page gift book captures the reader with powerful illustrations and raw emotion to assist the healing process one must face when a pet has died.  The book is unique in its symbolism and style offering affirmations to replace the pain that one feels while still honoring the path of grief and healing. At Transitions Veterinary Care, we bring compassion into your pet’s journey. Everything we do is intentional and is always grounded in our CARETM Philosophy.

comfort

for you and your pet

attention

to small details and the big picture

respect

for your wishes, needs, and your pet’s preferences

expertise

a focus on senior/ geriatric, palliative, and end of life stages

Comfort: It all begins with bringing comfort to you and your pet. Sometimes comfort comes in the form of relief in knowing that you now have a guide to support you on this journey. Sometimes comfort is the confidence of knowing that you are truly making the best choices for your entire (people and pet) family. And sometimes, comfort is about ensuring your pet is physically comfortable, addressing any pain and quality of life concerns that your beloved pet may have. Whatever discomfort you and yours are experiencing, we are here to help.

Attention: Senior/ geriatric, palliative, and end of life care have many facets and can become quite complex, even for veterinary professionals. Transitions is exceptional at considering the big picture while at the same time attending to the small details. While mainstream medicine focuses on diagnosing, treating, and attempting to cure primary diseases and conditions, at Transitions we consider the bigger picture. We help you identify your objectives and needs, to truly recognize and understand all the factors before choosing the best educated path for you and your pet family. Together, we will initiate a CARETM Plan with individualized detail. In addition to primary treatments, we can recommend supplemental care, diet changes, home modifications, and other support options. Sometimes the smallest details can make the biggest difference.

Respect: Respect is an essential core value that is the foundation of everything we do at Transitions. It is not our role to impose our preferences on you. You, your human family members, and your pet family members are all beautiful, unique individuals that we choose to honor and serve. What are you and your human family’s needs? Wishes? Constraints? What are your pet’s individual preferences? These are the foundations upon which we build a Transitions CARETM Plan that will truly reflect the goals of your entire pet and people family.

Expertise: Transitions is deeply rooted in an excellent base of clinical experience, knowledge, and evidence-based medicine focusing on senior/ geriatric, palliative, and end of life CARETM. KaLee Pasek is not only an experienced Veterinarian with more than 25 years of experience, she is also credentialed in Veterinary Family Practice and is a Certified Hospice Palliative Care Veterinarian. The Transitions CARETM Team includes an extensive network of multi-disciplinary providers credentialed in his/her own areas of expertise.
